Part 4: Jamaica Street Era
Finding Its Feet: The Jamaica Street Era
As the community grew, so did the need for a space that could hold it. The move to Jamaica Street marked a turning point for Pole Physique. No longer temporary or improvised, the studio began to feel established. A place people could return to, improve in, and belong to.
Located above Glasgow's iconic Sub Club, the Jamaica Street studio gave Pole Physique something it had never truly had before: a permanent home. The move from nightclub and bar venues into a dedicated studio space signalled a new chapter for the business and the community growing around it.
As classes expanded and more students discovered pole, the studio became a regular part of life for many Glaswegians. Friendships were formed, confidence grew, and students returned week after week to train, perform and support one another.
Being based in the heart of Glasgow also helped raise Pole Physique's profile. At a time when pole was still finding mainstream acceptance, the studio was becoming increasingly well known across the city. Word spread through friends, colleagues and recommendations, and the student base continued to grow.
For many students, Jamaica Street was where Pole Physique became more than a class. It became a community. A place with its own identity, culture and loyal following.
This was where Pole Physique really started to feel like a studio, and where its reputation as one of Glasgow's pioneering pole schools began to take shape.
